Sculptor Sam Shendi holds the first piece of steel cut for Cunard's new, as yet un-named, ship at the Fincantieri ship yard in Naples, Italy.
Yorkshire based Shendi will use the steel to create a sculpture for the ship which will launch in 2022.
The steel cutting ceremony marks the start of construction on the 249th ship of the luxury cruise line and an exciting moment in the company’s 179-year history.
Cunard's fleet includes Queen Mary 2, the world's only ocean liner in service, plus Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.
