Mark Edward Thistlethwayte, owner of the Southwick Estate near Portsmouth who is building a village on land owned by his family.
He was told sixteen years ago that Fareham Council was going to build 10,000 homes adjacent to his family estate of Southwick in Hampshire. He decided he'd build it on his land very close by. He’s planning to build 6,000 homes.
Building starts end of this year with the first residents moving in next year.
The new village, Welborne, will have about 6,000 homes which will be similar to an Edwardian Garden City design but organised and built in a new way, he claims. He has put £130 million of his own money into the 25-year project.
Picture shows Mr Thistlethwayte on land that will be built on as phase one of the development.
